In 2007, she made her debut in acting in the film “A Point Of No Return” as Dina a young lady who is forced by her family to marry the witch man Lameck played by late Steven Kanumba who is not her choice. She did not deliver the performance of a debutant, her acting was near perfect. She appeared in another movie “Family Tears” alongside her late lover Steven. Late Steven was more than just a lover, he played the role of a life coach as well as a talent manager in the life of the ex-beauty queen. The movie “White Maria” where she played the role of Catherine earned her a place in the heart of many Tanzanian movie lovers.

She continued to appear in some Tanzanian movies until she decided in 2011 to produce her first film “Superstar” which is a story about her unsteady relationship with Tanzanian music superstar Diamond Platinumz. She invested so much in this movie and invited Nigeria’s veteran actress Omotola Jalade Ekeinde at the launching of the film which was held at the Kilimanjaro Hyatt Regency Hotel in Dar Es Salaam. With zero marketing efforts, the movie has not found its way to the market yet, because distributors are offering little money compared to the amount she used in making the film.

In 2014, she entered the West African market and teamed up with Van Vicker in the film “Day after Death”. The film was supposed to be released in 2015 but suffered a delay but she went on to appear and produce other films. She took a hiatus from acting and return to the acting in 2017, appearing in the movie “Heaven Sent” as a leading character. The launch of the film took place at Century Cinemax Mlimani City Dar Es Salaam Tanzania. Wema sold the film via her mobile application Wema App, the movie received seven nominations at the 2018 Sinema Zetu International Film Festival Awards including Best Actress and Best Feature Film where she won Best Actress and the movie won People’s Choice.

Wema has her own movie production company she calls “Endless Fame Production”. The company also doubles as a talent management firm. Wema has won many industry awards some of which come from the modeling industry.

When she finally broke up with the Diamond Platinumz, the singer found out difficult to move on so easily not even when he was with Zari Hassan which explains why Zari and Wema can’t stand each other. Zari told the BBC that Wema was the reason why she dumped the singer, perhaps she suspected there were still trysts between the two ex-lovers.

Wema also dated Idris Sultan the comedian who won Big Brother Africa Hotshots in 2014. They dated for months but broke up due to irreconcilable differences. In an interview with Dizzim online, Idris said he found it hard to forget Wema. “When I was trying to get her out of my mind, I slept with or dated more than 30 women. Honestly. So I grew up!” he said. Diamond Platinumz also said he found it difficult to forget Wema. What did Wema give these men?

The ex-beauty queen has had multiple miscarriages including the twins she miscarried for Idris Sultan. She revealed that seeing pregnant women show off their bellies sends tears down her cheeks but she is not without hope that one day she will carry her own baby.

The actress is having a series of court cases after her house was raided and “bhang” found in her home. Her ex-boyfriends Diamond Platinumz and Idris Sultan were also arrested and questioned. However, the ex-beauty queen spent many days in jail before she was granted bail. In 2019, she was locked away in prison for a week for not appearing in court. Her time in prison exposed her to a disease which she has been battling with for a while. She was later freed on bail for breaching her bail terms.
