Cynthia Watros was born on September 2, 1968, in Lake Orion Michigan to Bruce Watros an electrical engineer and Nancy, a legal secretary. She has an older brother named Steven, who is also an electrical engineer. Cynthia Watros has a mixed heritage of Polish (from her paternal grandmother), Italian (from her maternal grandfather), English, and Welsh.

Cynthia Watros was just 7 years old when her parents divorced and she was raised in a trailer park in Lake Orion. By the time she became a teenager, she was diagnosed with a sickly disease called “immune thrombocytopenia”, (it is an autoimmune disease of the blood). The actress fought the disease and passed through two years of chemotherapy. Many thought she wouldn’t make it but she did – she survived.

Cynthia Watros made her acting debut in 1994 in the Fox police drama series “New York Undercover” as a reporter. By a stroke of good fortune, she started playing the role of Annie Dutton a year later in the CBS soap opera “Guiding Light”. Her role was that of a nurse who fell in love with his patient. In 1998, she won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role on “Guiding Light”.

She appeared as Erin Fitzpatrick on Fox’s dark comedy sitcom “Titus” from 2000 to 2002 and gained recognition as a comedic actress of note, playing the fiancée of the title character played by Christopher Titus. During this period, she was pregnant with twins, and since her character, Erin was not supposed to be pregnant, she was filmed mostly standing behind objects, holding things in front of her. Other times, they filmed her from above the waist, wearing dark clothes.

Between 2005 – 2006, Cynthia Watros appeared on the ABC series “Lost”, portraying psychologist Libby, a romantic interest to Hurley and a member of the “Tailies”, a group of survivors of the plane crash who were in the tail section of the plane. She stayed in the show until her character was killed but she made appearances in flashbacks and even reappeared in the grand finale of the series.
