Will Ferrell was born in Irvine, California on July 16 1967 to Betty Kay, a teacher who taught at Old Mill School elementary school and Santa Ana College, and Roy Lee Ferrell Jr. a musician. He has a younger brother named Patrick. The actor is of English, German, and Irish descent.
Will watched his parents divorce at the age of eight, however, he later described his parents’ divorce as amicable as he had ample opportunity to spend Christmas either with his mom or dad. However, he spent little time with his Dad because he was always traveling for shows.

Will Ferrell developed his improvisation skills at “The Groundlings” comedy group after he failed many times as a standup comedian at events. He soon began to draw inspiration from the comedy of Chevy Chase and Bill Murray. In 1994 when Saturday Night Live (SNL) was undergoing a major recast for a new season, he joined the cast of SNL and was outstanding with his numerous celebrity impersonations for seven years during which he hosted the show five times. Before he left the show in 2002, it was reported that he was the highest-paid cast member of Saturday Night Live in 2001 with a season salary of $350,000. Also, in a 2014 poll taken as part of a commemorative SNL feature on Grantland, Ferrell was voted the best Saturday Night Live cast member of all time.
