Steven Bauer was born Esteban Ernesto Echevarría Samson. He was born in December 1956 to a middle-class family. His father worked with Cuban Airway.

His parents fled Cuba after Fidel Castro came into power

After the Cuban revolution in 1960, thousands of Cubans fled to the United States of America. One of such people was the family of Esteban Echevarría who settled in Miami, Florida. This was how Bauer came to live in America.

Steven Bauer is a serial divorcee

Bauer has married and divorced more than once. He first got married in 1981 aged 25. He got married to the actress Melanie Griffith. The marriage lasted for eight years and produced one son. The couple file for, separated and divorced in 1989.

In the same 1989, Steven got married to his second wife. Her name, Ingrid Anderson. While his first marriage seemed short at eight years, this second one was four times shorter as the duo divorced in 1991. Like earlier, they have a child together.

The star is a serial divorcee

Steven Bauer has Italian heritage

He came from Cuba which points his ancestry to Spain. But besides, Spain, Bauer has Iberian blood in him as his mother’s mother is part Italian. He also has Jewish blood in him as his paternal grandfather was a German Jewish refugee from Germany.

Steven was in Breaking Bad

Bauer featuring in “Breaking Bad” in 2011. “Breaking Bad” is the western crime drama which aired on AMC. In this, Steven played the role of a Mexican drug lord Don Eladio Vuente who appeared for just two episodes in which he oversaw one of the fiercest killing sprees and counter killing sprees.

For his performance here, Bauer was nominated in 2012 in the Saturn Award for Best Guest Starring Role on Television.

He made an appeared in the prequel “Better Call Saul”.

Bauer’s debut drama “¿Qué Pasa, USA?” remains his most prominent

Steven Bauer featured in “¿Qué Pasa, USA?” (translated from Spanish to What’s Happening, USA?). It is the first bilingual comedy film in America which aired on PBS. It follows the story of a Cuban-American family living in Little Havana, Miami, highlighting their troubles to cope with America.

Bauer played the role of Joe Peña, the son of the patriarch and matriarch of the Cuban-American family. This series was made up of 39 episodes and Bauer appeared in 28 of them. After this series, it took him more than thirty-five years, a generation actually, to break his appearance record of “¿Qué Pasa, USA?”

Steven Bauer was in “Ray Donovan”

Steven Bauer was part of the main cast of “Ray Donovan” on Showtime, appearing in all but one of its six seasons, clocking a total of 44 episodes as the character Avi, the ex-Mossad and trusted right-hand man of the title character.

Bauer was also in “Wiseguy” (1990, nine episodes), Hacienda Heights (2010, eleven episodes), among scores of others.

Steven Bauer is worth five million dollars
