Nicholas Ma – How old is he?

Nicholas Ma is a product of American super cellist Yo-Yo Ma and Jill Hornor, an art consultant. We do not know when Nicholas was born though we know he is the first of the couple’s two kids. And we know that the parents got married in 1978.

At a close guess, with a gun pointed to the neck, Nicholas Ma was born in 1980. But anything between 1979 and 1982 is his year of birth. Nicholas Ma is in his early forties.

He was born in Paris to Chinese parents in 1955. But he grew up in the US where he had his education, ultimately studying a certain Harvard University. He started as a child prodigy cellist and has played in countless countries, from folk music to classical melodies to Chinese melodies to the tangos, performing with an ancient cello from Italy valued in millions.

He has played for presidents, princes, premiers, and billionaires. He has recorded nearly 100 albums and has won the Grammy Award for a record 18 times for a cellist, we believe.

Movies he’s involved in.

He produced the documentary “Won’t You Be My Neighbor” about the life and guiding philosophy of Fred Rogers, the host and creator of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. It was directed by Morgan Neville and was released on what would have been Fred Roger’s 90th birthday.

Ma has directed the movies “Mabel” and “Echoes” and written scripts of a few of them.

There are also a handful of movies where he was in the sound department or assisting some director. And some where he was speaking into the camera in some documentaries.
