Among those is Joao Maleck a youngster plying his trade in the Mexico second division.

Joao Maleck- Background and nationality

Joao Maleck was born Junior Joao Maleck Robles was born on13 March 1999 (22 years) in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico to a Franco-Cameroonian father Jean Claude Maleck, and a Mexican mother Diana Robles.

Joao’s father Jean-Claude Maleck was a footballer who played for Tecos UAG and San Luis in Mexico where he met Joao’s mother.

Joao Maleck held three nationalities Cameroonian, French, and Mexican making him eligible to play for the 3 countries (Cameron, France, and Mexico). He qualifies to play for Cameron due to his grandparent’s nationality and Mexico due to his mother’s nationality and also his place of birth while for France due to his father having the nationality of France.

So far he has his mind on playing for the “Tri” the national team of Mexico having played for the youth national team but with time we will get to see if he will change his mind about playing for the other countries.

Playing career

At the age of 12 years, Joao was signed to the youth team of Club Deportivo Guadalajara a Mexican professional football club based in Zapopan, Jalisco where he spent three years with the academy before he moved to Club Santos Laguna S.A. de C.V. youth team located in northern Mexico, in 2017 Joao was promoted to the senior team at the age of eighteen years and was immediately loaned to Porto B a youth team for the Portuguese club Porto where he spent one year with the team.

After his stay at Porto B which didn’t favor him, he was loaned to Sevilla where he made 3 appearances for the youth team without a single appearance for the senior team, after some brief absence from football he was loaned to Deportivo CAFESSA Jalisco where he made eight appearances, scoring three goals. Currently, he’s on loan at Coras Fútbol Club a third-tier Mexico team where he has made thirteen appearances and scored six goals for the team.

Joao Maleck has also represented the national youth team of Mexico in 2017 and 2019.

Legal problems

On 23 June 2019 morning, Joao Maleck was involved in a car crash in his hometown, Guadalajara, the accident resulted in the death of a newlywed couple. He was driving over the speed limit and was under the influence of alcohol when his vehicle hit the car of the victims.

the accident, he was on loan at Sevilla Atletico in Spain’s second division which led the club to terminate his contract with them. After being found guilty of two counts of aggravated homicide on 23 October 2019, Maleck was sentenced to three years, eight months, and 15 days in prison and ordered to pay a fine of 3 million pesos (141,600 US dollars) but was released after serving less than half of his sentence and posting a $151,121 bond.

After having his loan contract terminated by Sevilla Atletico, he signed an extension with his parent club Santos Laguna and was registered with the U-20 team.

Immediately he stepped out of prison, Joao offered a public apology to the families of those affected in the accident and to his fans and those who believed in him whom he let down.

As a footballer who plays as a forward Joao stands tall at a height of 1.83 meters (6 feet 0 inches) which is pretty normal for a forward which gives a beat of advantage playing against some defenders.
