Jennifer Salt was born on September 4, 1944, in Los Angeles California. Her parents Waldo Salt and Mary Davenport peddled words for a living as screenwriters. Her mother Mary also doubled as an actress. Jennifer Salt has a younger sister named Deborah whom she grew up with. She also has a stepmother, the famous writer Eve Merriam. Jennifer grew up watching her biological parents write and create characters on papers, surely it must be within this period that she was sure of what the future held for her.

Jennifer Salt made her career debut in 1968 in an uncredited role in the film “Murder a la Mod”. A year later, she portrayed the role of Crazy Annie in the movie Midnight Cowboy, which was written by her father, Waldo Salt. She continued to appear in minor Television roles as her parents prepared her for the acting journey. It was not a preparation aided by her parental support only, Jennifer Salt was ready.
Jennifer Salt won a 1971 Theatre World award as Estelle in the play, “Father’s Day”, but she is best remembered as Eunice Tate-Leitner, the arrogant daughter of Chester and Jessica Tate in the television comedy series “Soap”. She appeared in a few more movies like “The Wedding Party”, “Sisters”, “Love, American Style” and many more she exchanged her acting gloves with a writing pad.
Jennifer started a career as a screenwriter after she retired as an actress. She wrote some episode scripts for Nip/Tuck and other programs. She is a co-writer of the script for the Julia Roberts film “Eat Pray Love” based on Elizabeth Gilbert’s best-selling memoir of the same name. She has also been nominated for various awards as a screenwriter which could serve as a testament that her screenwriting job is not a fluke.
She has been nominated for a Writers Guild of America Award for the Nip/Tuck episode, “Rhea Reynolds.” In 2011, she joined the FX horror series American Horror Story as a writer and co-executive producer. Jennifer Salt married David Greenberg on June 6 1975. The marriage was blessed with a son named Jonah. However, as with most marriages that never made it to the most famous lie ever spoken in front of a priest “Till Death Do Us Apart’, it crashed on February 15, 1980. Jennifer Salt never remarried.
