Zulay Henao was born in Medellin, Antioquia, Colombia, in May 1979. She was to a middle-class family. When she was still in infancy, her parents emigrated to the United States in search of the American Dream. The family settled in New Jersey where Zulay attended high school. After high school, she found herself in the US Army where she served for three years. While in the army, stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, she attended Methodist College.

When she left the army, still with her burning desire for education and with a newfound desire to go into show business, she enrolled in the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts to study acting.

We don’t know of the name of any sibling nor are we certain how many of them she has but we know she has a younger sister whom she admitted to fighting for when she was a teenager. According to her, “My family is my soft spot, and whenever they’re in some kind of trouble, I’m there.”

In 2010, she played a part in the psychological thriller “Boy Wonder”. It is a film about a boy, Sean, whose mother was killed by a carjacker and had to grow up under the tutelage of his alcoholic father, and up he grew to become an antisocial person with a desire to find his mother’s killer. Teresa played the role of a police officer who befriended Sean in order to advance her investigations.

She was also in the sports drama “Fighting” from 2009 and the thriller film “Taken” in 2010.

She made her first TV appearance in Lifetime’s “Army Wives”. In 2013, she made her first main cast appearance on TV in “Love Thy Neighbor” in which she played the role of Marianna Perez in 26 episodes on Oprah Winfrey Network. The next year, she made her most prominent appearance on TV. Like Thy Neighbor, it was made for Oprah Winfrey Network. “If Loving You Is Wrong” is a loose sequence of the 2014 movie “Single Mom’s Club” and Henao played the role of Esperanza in both credits. Of the 90 episodes that make up the four seasons of the show which is the most rated for Oprah’s network, Zulay was a part of 58 episodes.

Other Zulay Henao’s TV credits include a recurring role in the second season of the series “The Oath” on Sony Crackle and one episodic appearances in “STAR” and “The Unusuals”.

Zulay Henao was engaged to marry the actor, rapper, singer, and songwriter Terrence Howard known for the films Dead Presidents and Mr. Holland’s Opus, all from 1995. He was engaged to marry Zulay in 2009. They broke the engagement after eight months in 2010. Terrence who is older than Zulay by ten years is a veteran of four marriages and four divorces. Everyone will agree that a broken engagement is better than a broken marriage. Mr. Horrace has five children from all his women.

In 2014, Zulay began to date the model Joel Rush. He is two years younger than his girlfriend. They are not in a rush to tie the knot.
