Uti Nwachukwu is the type of celebrity many ladies would crave for. From a career that started off on the Big Brother Africa platform, he has become so many things in the Nigeria entertainment industry, modeling, acting, TV host, Uti Nwachukwu is capable. There’s a lot to him that you may not (even if you’re a big fan of him) know. So here are some interesting facts of this multi-talented entertainer.
Just like the fact that he lost his father while at the fifth edition of Big Brother Africa. Uti received devastating news about the death of his father through prostate cancer while he was still at the Big Brother Africa All Star Edition. The news crippled him and the high-spirited Uti became depressed but he remained in the house. Some have argued that he used this misfortune to play on the emotions of viewers to keep him in the house until he won.
Looking at what Uti has made of himself after emerging the winner in the show, it won’t be entirely correct to say that his winning was not deserving. Recall that he was at the third edition of the reality TV show but was evicted, then like one planning a heist he watched the show at home, strategized and made a deserving comeback at the fifth edition.
After the demise of his father, he developed this special affinity for his mother. On so many occasions, he said that his mother’s personality grew into him in areas of generosity, kindness and treating everyone as an equal.
And the fact that he abhors going nude. Uti might be in the modeling world and spinning heads with his charming outlook, but when it comes to appearances that will reveal sacrosanct part of his body, he won’t sign the dotted lines on any deal you are offering. Uti said in one of the interviews he had that: “There’s something sacred about my nudity. Even at Big Brother when they showered naked, I never showered naked. I always had my boxers on. If my nudity is brought out to the public, it’ll definitely be against my will or a situation where I was tricked.”
This seems to the mainstream thought as we don’t really have male nudists in Nigeria. Here are three other facts you need to know.
Uti Nwachukwu was a banker
Imagine Uti in the marketing department of a bank carrying the compelling tone of a salesman and amazing looks, he would probably have many clients eager to open a saving account probably thinking it’s a serving account. Banking it turned out was not his calling, the model ditched the bank and proceeded to become a heavyweight in the entertainment industry.
The realization that counting other people’s money won’t afford the choicest estate at Banana Island for any might have been an added incentive.

Modeling wasn’t the first thing he did after leaving the banking hall. He tried his luck in music, in 2011, releasing the song “Once in my life”. Even though the song won him an award, music was not his prime calling and, just like the bank, he ditched it and focused fully on modeling and hosting shows. He has hosted quite a number of shows like the Sound City Video Awards and Exquisite Awards, and currently, he is the Presenter of M-NET’s magazine show called “Jara”.
Is Uti Nwachukwu gay?
We don’t know. Perhaps no one knows for sure. But there are rumors; there are firm fingers that his gay partner is Alex Ekubo who is also a model and actor. There was a time this rumor used to be a hot debate in the media but both actors seem to have lost their voices in the debate because you can never win against the circus.
Some time back, one of the Lagos big babes who was throwing her net for a catch at Uti visited him in his apartment, Uti didn’t know how to tell the lady that he never felt what she felt, after light talks Uti left her in the sitting room to meet his supposed male lover Alex Ekubo in the bedroom. The lady got tired of waiting only to open his bedroom and found both actors cuddling and having fun. The couple has debunked this but proponents of this viewpoint that the two go on vacation together and Uti pitch Alex to them and the two ended up working together for more than coincidence could have permitted.

In some parts of Abuja, he is known as a boyfriend snatcher (not girlfriend) that most of his friends had to cut ties with him because of his ability to make a straight man bend like a portion of cooked spaghetti.
These are stories. While it is believable, one cannot excuse the overwhelming absence of concrete evidence and named sources. As to why he is not yet married, Uti says: “I will not marry out of my own understanding. I don’t want to be a divorcee; so, I am taking my time. I am currently working on my patience and tolerance level. I am learning how to live peacefully because I am used to having things my way.”
Uti Nwachukwu is no longer interested in acting
Wondering why you have not been seeing Uti appear in movies recently? He has upgraded his game. First, when he went missing for a long time in the movies, fans started wondering what could be wrong but he gave a reply: “I haven’t been in the country, but I am back now. I took a break from acting because it doesn’t pay much and I am not ready for that kind of life. I don’t want to pretend about it; so, I am only focusing on what brings greater remuneration, which is television presenting and hosting of events.” He hosts the show “Jara” on African Magic with Helen Paul.
However, Uti doesn’t intend to stay away from acting entirely but will only act if the pay is good, too good because according to him, he is in the movie industry to make money. Is it advisable to drop the acting career that has given him so much fame and awards like the Best Actor of the year at the City People entertainment award, best new actor at GIAMA award which was held in the United States of America, and most prominent actor in Nigeria at the Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Award? You might ask. We don’t know the answer. Time shall tell. We wait.
