The film won the 2006 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and was nominated for the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film in 2006.
Following his role, he won Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role at the Black Movie Awards 2006 beating the likes of Denzil Washington (Inside Man), Cuba Gooding Junior (Shadowboxer) and Tyrese Gibson (Waist Deep) who were also nominated. Presley also won Best Actor at the Bangkok International Film Festival 2006.

I got calls from around the world and there was a lot of interest. I would send audition tapes across and sometimes hear back. I could have gone to LA, but without anything concrete, I didn’t want to rush off and then end up broke and homeless in LA. It happens all too often,” Presley said. Of course, he was right as breaking into Hollywood is not a walk in the park.
In 2007, he appeared in the film “More Than Just a Game”. This was followed by another big role in the film “State of Violence”, “Africa United” and “The Gentleman”.
In 2018, Presley starred in the film “The River 1 Magic”. No matter how many films he has appeared, his most iconic role on TV is Tsotsi which he also admitted publicly. The actor has disclosed that one day he would play a comedy role and fans are waiting.

The actor was dragged to court by his ex-girlfriend in 2007 for failing to pay child maintenance, there reports that alleged that the actor paid only two payments of R500 before he stopped making payments.
