The story of Tracy Lords is that of a star who is a bright example of what it means to have redemption. Three decades in the movie industry and so many things have changed from the naive girl who first walked into the industry; everything, including her personality has undergone tremendous change. What is Traci Lords up to these days? Here is everything you need to know about the actress, singer, and writer.
Traci Lords: Age and early life
Traci Lords was born on May 7, 1968, in Steubenville, Ohio as Nora Louise Kuzma. The name of her father is Louis, a steel industry worker who has Ukrainian roots while her mother Patricia is of Irish Origin. Traci has an older sister named Lorraine and two other sisters Grace and Rachel.
She became an adult quite too early as events at home shaped her negatively. Her father was an alcoholic who constantly returned home every night drunk, venting his spleen on everyone and constantly abusing their mother. When the abuse intensified, the marriage ended in divorce which led to her mother picking up a part-time at Ohio University in order to take care of them while she ships them off to go live with her mother (their grandmother).

At aged 10, Traci was defiled by a 16-year-old boy at the birthday party of a friend she attended. This really devastated her, leaving her in bruises. At age 12, her mother found love again and decided to take his children to Lawndale, California where her new boyfriend resides.
This relocation only brought flashbacks of her father as her mother’s new boyfriend was a drug dealer. At night, he would abuse her – she was a minor. Her mother’s newfound love crashed suddenly and there was another man waiting to accept her but this time, Traci and her elder sister Lorraine refused to join her and it was by this time she was admitted at the Redondo Union High School in Redondo Beach, California.
At 14, emotions started running deep and she thought she had found love in the eyes of her classmate who got her pregnant. When things went sour, she didn’t keep the baby and worked briefly as a babysitter in order to feed. Then, without the knowledge of anyone, she illegally procured a fake driver’s license claiming she was 22 whereas her legal age was 15 as she posed for magazines like Velvet, Juggs, and Club.
Luckily for her, she was among the models selected to model for the Penthouse magazine’s 15th-anniversary issue but she was asked to pick a stage name and that was how she christened herself Traci Lords; derived from a friend’s first name and “Hawaii Five-0” actor Jack Lord.
The money started coming in and she dropped out of school completely and entered the minor industry as a minor flashing her fake ID of 22. Her first adult film was in 1984 and by the time she appeared in others, including the one that won her the AVN Award for Best Movie “Talk to me Dirty” she was given the name “Princess of P—”.
At the age of 17, she wanted to leave the industry but her boyfriend Stuart Dell who founded the “Traci Lords Company” with her tried to blackmail her and she stayed in the industry until authorities found out and she was taken to protective custody. Her adult contents were taken off the shelf and her promoters went through a messy legal battle that reverberated the industry itself.
Traci finally left the adult industry but not without giving them one more content; an 18th birthday gift “Traci, I Love You” which was shot in Cannes, France.
Traci Lords is 53 years old.
