Uche Jombo – career

In 1999, Uche Jombo made her Nollywood debut in the film “Visa to Hell”. Over the years she has gone on to appear in hundreds of movies, averaging more than twenty movies per year. Some of her more prominent movies include: “Darkest Night” (2005), “Silent Scandals” which also has Genievive in the cast; “Beyonce & Rihanna” (2008) which also has Jim Iyke and Omotola as part of the cast; “Kiss and Tell” (2010) with Nse Ikpe-Etim in the cast; “Damage” (2010) with Tonto Dikeh, “Mrs. Somebody” (2012), “Misplaced” with Van Vicker (2012); “Wives on Strike” (2016), “Banana Island Ghost” (2017), and more recently “Heaven in my Mind” with Ini Edo.

Uche Jombo has now gone into the aspect of filmmaking. She started with scriptwriting, then she became an executive producer and producer. She produced her first film in 2012 called “Damage”, under her company Uche Jombo Studio. After this film, she smelt blood and held her teeth tighter on this aspect of the industry. She has gone on to become a director with her debut coming in the movie “Heaven on My Mind” released in October 2018.

The cinema is the future of Nollywood. Ramsey Nouah is in the frontline of this push. Uche Jombo is showing that he is not alone.

In July 2019, Uche Jombo marked her twentieth year in the movie industry and she posted a congratulatory message for herself on Instagram which can be said to be a summary of her affairs in the industry so far, part of which reads: “Today 20 years ago I made my debut in a Nollywood film (“Visa to Hell”) What a journey its been… With over 200 films as an actor, over 30 films as a screenwriter, over 30 films as an executive producer, lately 6 films as a director and STILL going!!! I made it this far because of you and we only just began. Join me in raising a glass.”

Marriage

In 2012, Uche got married to a Puerto Rican Kenney Rodriguez. The union is blessed with a son named Mathew Rodriguez. In 2017, rumors filtered into the social media that the marriage has broken up. Uche whose social media handles have carried the name Uche Jombo Rodriguez dropped Rodriguez from her name, further fueling the ambers of her marriage break-up. But Uche denied that her marriage is over. She penned an open letter to bloggers, pleading that “Please LEAVE my FAMILY out of your manufactured made up stories, there are more important stories, real issues in world people are worried about than little old.” She concludes thus: “News flash: Marriages in the United States are public record.”

Nancy Isime facts

The husband purportedly apologized to Uche publicly on Instagram but eagle-eyed social media experts said this was a fake account and that it was Uche who created the account to apologize to herself. The account has been deleted.

A year later, while the rumor persists, she told the Sun Newspaper in an interview, “Sorry, I don’t talk about my marriage.” These rumors are not without cause as Uche was liberal with pictures of her hubby on social media which makes her ceasing to do this an indication of troubles if not a total break-up.
