Tolani Baj’s profile precedes being just a housemate in the Big Brother Lockdown Season. She breathes entertainment as she has been in the industry for several years, vlogging and modeling. However, there is no denying that it was in the Big Brother Naija Lockdown that she became more popular. Here are five facts about her you should know.

Tolani Baj was born in the United States of America

Tolani Baj was born Tolani Shobajo in Chicago Illinois to Nigerian parents on 25th October 1993. She is 26 years old at the time of writing this 2020. She would be 27 at the tail end of 2020.

The reality star spent a good number of her life in the US soil, schooling and working, however, there were times she visited Africa, Nigeria to be precise to catch up with events and learn more about the motherland. In 2018, she took a bold decision to relocate to Nigeria. “Fast forward to December 2018,” she told Vanguard Nigeria, “I summoned the courage to relocate back to Nigeria after nine years, to pursue my career in the entertainment industry. I took the risk, moved to Nigeria, and flourished.”

Her definition of “flourish” may be a little subjective but she has a point: You’re reading about her today.

Tolani Baj is the Queen of controversies

Tolani was greeted with many opportunities immediately she returned to Nigeria. There were jobs from leading organizations waiting for her and within four months after she moved to Nigeria she secured a job at Universal Music Group, which is the Nigerian division of the global record label Universal Music Group’

However, she lost this job after she publicly criticized the public stating that they lack direction. This didn’t go well with the company and they fired her.  At the age of 21, she was arrested in the United States for driving on a suspended license. She spent some time in jail and was also fined.

She was the 8th housemate to be evicted in the Big Brother Lockdown House

Tolani Baj was among the 20 housemates that entered the Big Brother Naija Lockdown house on July 19, 2020. She entered the house with the confidence of someone who has been to the show before and viewers set their eyes on her. Her adventure in the house started when she kissed Kiddwaya in a truth or dare game. As the game intensified, Tbaj found herself being emotionally attracted to fellow housemate Prince who showed a non-committal approach to their relationship or so we think.

Relationship aside, Tbaj served as the Deputy Head of House DHOH to Kiddwaya the love interest of Erica as she (Erica) was ineligible to take that role after serving as the Head of House the previous week. During her reign as DHOH, she disobeyed one of the house rules by sleeping outside the DHOH lounge. This offense earned her one strike before her eviction.

Tolani Baj became the first housemate who was evicted without facing eviction votes from fellow housemates. Following the new way of eviction where housemates who end up on the bottom four were made to face eviction votes from other housemates, the rules changed as Ebuka announced that the public votes will determine the fate of the housemates. Other housemates who were up for a possible eviction that week included TrikyTee, Kiddwaya, BrightO, Prince, Erica, Lucy, Neo, Wathoni, Dorothy, Vee, and Laycon.

She is multi-talented

No doubt that Tolani Baj is talented. Before she became a housemate in the Lockdown season, she is an Artist and Repertoire (A&R) who has worked with Aristocrats Records, Tooexclusive, and Pulse TV. She noted that her journey in the entertainment world started as far back as 2016 when she created her Youtube channel. “On YouTube, I would talk about new music, celebrity gossips, and Nigerian culture. After a year of consistency on Youtube, I was recognized by Bellanaija and Tooxclusive. I became a tooxclusive affiliate without having to be on ground, creating playlists on their platform.

“I would say showbiz started for me in December 2016. That year, I made the many connections I have in the industry today. I took Detty December more like a networking time.” she told journalists.

Tbaj is also the founder of  234nextgen. The company provides services in A&R, music marketing and distribution, modeling, and event management.

There is no one who has watched the Lockdown show intently who does not believe that Tolanibaj is on for big things in the entertainment industry.
