Sid Haig: Age and early life
Sid Haig was born on July 14, 1939, to an electrician father named Haig Mosesian and Roxy Mooradian in n Fresno, California. He was raised in an Armenian community as an only child. Sid grew up too fast (height) and it nearly made him behave outside the spectrum of normal behavior, following what his parents saw in him, they decided to enroll him in a dancing class. That decision soon paid off as he soon started earning money as a professional dancer in children’s Christmas events at the age of 7.
He joined a vaudeville revival show and his interest in the entertainment industry even grew at large. When he showed interest in music particularly for the drums, his parents bought him a drum set and he taught himself several music styles like country, jazz, blues, and rock and roll.
While in high school, the head of the drama department at his school named Alice Merrill encouraged him to pursue an acting career. Her high school teacher Ms. Merrill had been a Broadway actress who still knew some big shots in the acting business at the time. With a stroke of luck, preparedness and destiny, Sid Haig gave a performance a stellar performance in a play he was selected.

Sid Haig: Career
Sid Haig first had a musical career before venturing into acting. When he completed his high school, Sid Haig and signed a recording contract went on to record the single “Full House” with the T-Birds in 1958, which reached No. 4 on the charts.
He switched his attention to acting fully in 1960 when he portrayed the character of a fugitive in the film “The Host”. He made his television debut in 1962 playing the role of Augie the Hood in the television series “The Untouchables”. He went on to play several roles in television series but his acting legacy would be best documented in the motion pictures where he flourished mostly.
In 1992, he retired from acting temporary stating that “I just didn’t want to play stupid heavies anymore. They just kept giving me the same parts but just putting different clothes on me. It was stupid, and I resented it, and I wouldn’t have anything to do with it”. While he was away from anything that has to do with the show business, he trained and became a certified hypnotherapist, and after five years, he came out of his voluntary retirement and returned on set.
In 2003, Haig starred in Rob Zombie’s debut film “House of 1000 Corpses”, as a psychotic clown named Captain Spaulding; a name he would eventually be remembered with always. The role set his career in motion again as he bagged a “Best Supporting Actor” award in the 13th Annual Fangoria Chainsaw Awards and induction into Fangoria’s Horror Hall of Fame.

He reprised his role as Captain Spaulding in the 2005 film “The Devil’s Rejects” which is a sequel of “House of 1000 Corpses”, in which Spaulding is played as the patriarch of the murderous Firefly family. He played the role of cemetery caretaker Chester Chesterfield in the film “Halloween”.
In 2019, he reprised his role as Captain Spaulding for the final time in the Rob Zombie film “3 from Hell”, a continuation to “House of 1000 Corpses” and “The Devil’s Rejects”. Sid Haig will posthumously appear in the upcoming films “Hanukkah” and “Abruptio”.

Sid Haig married rather late in his career. He married Susan L. Oberg on November 3, 2007, at the age of 71 years. The marriage did not produce any child. Susan L. Oberg was born on September 11, 1972, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She used to be a body piercer before she dumped her tools to pursue a writing career.
Cause of death
Sid Haig died on September 21, 2019, from complications of COPD, Aspergillus pneumonia, a small bowel obstruction, and cardiopulmonary arrest at the age of 80. His wife announced his death online in a post “On Saturday, September 21, 2019, my light, my heart, my true love, my King, the other half of my soul, Sidney, passed from this realm on to the next,’ she wrote. ‘He has returned to the Universe, a shining star in her heavens. He was my angel, my husband, my best friend and always will be”
