Shelly contested for Miss Louisiana Teen USA 2004 in the state pageant held in Lafayette, Louisiana and won the crown. Her victory gave the confidence to represent her state, Louisiana in the Miss Teen USA 2004 pageant which she also won, setting history as the first winner from Louisiana and the first girl from Louisiana to win a national title since Ali Landry won the Miss USA crown in 1996.

Her Miss Teen USA crown has some mouthwatering benefits, a one-year modeling contract with Trump Modeling Management, and a scholarship to The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts. During the time she was Miss Teen USA, she made several trips outside America and gave speeches on different platforms until her reign elapsed in 2005, prompting her to consider an acting career.

She made her debut in 2004 when she landed the role of Crane Maid in the NBC sitcom “Passions”. Two years after making her debut, she landed the role of Stephanie Johnson in the American day time soap opera “Days of Our Lives”. The series centered on the family lives of the Hortons and the Bradys. Shelley landed her motion picture debut in 2014 in the horror film “Ouija” as Debbie Galardi. She has also appeared in films like “Summer of 8” “When we first met” and “After Party”. In 2019, she played the role of Ramona in the comedy web series “Dollface” on Hulu. Her acting credits might not be much but they are rich.
