Sharon Ooja: Age and early life

Sharon Ooja was born on April 6 1991 in Kaduna. However, she hails from Benue State. Sharon was raised in a family of four girls in Jos, Plateau State where she made so many memories with her sisters as a child. Sharon attended Kings and Queens School, Jos, for her primary education. For her secondary education, she attended two all-girls schools – Regina Pacis Secondary School, Garki II, Abuja, and St. Louis Girls’ College, Jos. Both were boarding schools.

She graduated with a degree in Mass Communication from Houdegbe North American University in Cotonou, Benin Republic where she was studying business administration initially. Growing up, she had no interest in the screen job but fortune found her when she spotted at a photo session for a store where NdaniTV was covering the behind-the-scenes activities of the shoot. They invited her for an interview a week later and a star was born. Sharon Ooja is 29 years old.

Career

Sharon Ooja played a minor role in the series “Gidi Up” courtesy of NdaniTV. The strong acting potentials in her opened her up for more roles as she was offered the role in the web TV series “Skinny Girl in Transit” where she played the baby faced Shalewa. Sharon admits that without her role as Shalewa on SGIT, her career wouldn’t have peaked. However, while this role brought her to the limelight, many people began to put her in a bubblewrap as that actress who plays one type of character.

Sharon played the role of Ngozi in the 2018 Nigerian drama film “Lara and the Beat” alongside stars like Uche Jombo and Shaffy Bello. The movie also stars artistes like Vector, DJ Exclusive, and Seyi Shay. The film tells the story of the beautiful Giwa Sisters who are caught in the center of a financial scandal with their late parent’s media empire. She also portrayed Amaka in Kemi Adetiba’s King of Boys and a school teacher in Omoni Oboli’s Mums at War.

In 2019, she starred in “Bling Lagosians” as Tokuno alongside Osa Ighodaro and Alexx Ekubo. The film tells the story of a wealthy Lagos family and their mother Mopelola, who is about to celebrate her 51st birthday party. It received mild criticism from the public and it also performed well at the box office, grossing over 120 million Naira. Sharon has starred in the web TV series “Men’s Club”, she has also starred in the 2020 Nigerian romantic comedy film “Who’s the Boss” as Liah. One of her most recent projects “Oloture” which would soon be available on Netflix Naija teases with a trailer where played the role of an undercover journalist who disguised as a hooker to expose human traffickers. She described this role as one of her biggest roles in the industry where she was not stereotyped. Sharon has so much to offer the entertainment industry and time is on her side to explore.

When the relationship life of Sharon is mentioned, one name pops up as always and that man is Timini Egbuson the AMVCA winner. However, Sharon has cleared the air many times that Timini is just a friend but many are not buying this, especially some entertainment fans who love to attach a man to every woman. “Timini is fantastic to work with and a ladies man that why it looks like we have chemistry going on but we are not,” she said during one of her media interviews. The duo hosted GT Bank’s Fashion week red carpet in 2017. Timini has a girlfriend(s) read without the brackets.

Her mother, a one time entertainer, also gives the advice that would help her become a better entertainer. Sharon intends to launch her own fashion line as well as starting a skill acquisition programme, such as a short summer camp for young girls.
