The success of S’dumo Mtshali as an actor did not happen overnight. The actor who rose to the top of the acting food chain started his career from a reality TV show. With close to a decade gone, his exploits in the movie industry has shown that he was/is a deserving winner in the first season of the SABC1 reality competition Class Act in 2010. Here is his biography in full.

S’dumo Mtshali: Age and early life

S’dumo Mtshali was born on March 3, 1983, in Durban, South Africa. When Mtshali was young, he showed so much interest in the show business and was encouraged to pursue his dreams. This, he did by appearing in theater players and other childhood drama shows. He studied acting at the Durban University of Technology, after his graduation, he started doing odd jobs which includes working at the Marine World in order to survive while keeping his acting dream alive.

When SABC1 reality competition Class Act in 2010 opened for auditions, he made it into the house and eventually won the competition at the end. For winning the Reality show, part of his prize package entails representation from the top SA casting agency, Moonyeen Lee and Associates, an eight-week acting course at New York Film Academy and the lead role in Donovan Marsh’s action feature film, “iNumber Number”.

On his return to South Africa after studying acting in New York Film Academy, it was good to witness that the organizers of Class Act completed their own promise by casting him in the Donovan Marsh film “iNumber Number”. He joined the cast of SABC1 drama series “Intersexions”. The series went on to win a Peabody Award in 2011.

S’dumo also portrayed the character of a medical student called Maidi Kotwe who was involved in a torrid love triangle. As his acting wings grew, he began to fly higher. He played the role of Kuti Daniels in “Temy Pushas” and also Spikiri in the film “Inside Story”.

His breakthrough role was in the action thriller movie “iNumber Number” where he appeared alongside Presley Chweneyagae as a headstrong undercover cop turned crook. He has appeared in movies like “Avenged”, “Saint and Sinners” and the television series “Isibaya” a Mzansi Magic telenovela. In 2019, he started playing the role of Camo in the television series “Shadows and Man down”. S’dumo also played the character of a gang leader in the movie “Back Of the Moon” where he fell in love with a famous musician.

The star won the Golden Horn Award for Best Supporting Actor in a TV Drama Series for his role as Sbu Ndlovu in the show “Isibaya” where he fell in love with Thandeka daughter of an enemy family and played by the actress Nomzamo Mbatha. He was nominated for a South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTA) Golden Horn as best actor for his role in ‘iNumber Number’. Mtshali’s other achievements include being nominated for the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in Leading Role for his movie “Avenged”.

S’dumo Mtshali has grown from actor to producer and now director. No doubt he has so much to offer the entertainment world.

Relationship

S’dumo Mtshali is not married but his alter ego is married to actress Nomzamo Mbatha in the Mzansi Magic drama series “Isibaya”. Due to the great chemistry both of them share on set, there are rumors that a relationship might be happening when the camera layers are down, but the actors have not said anything concrete to cancel these rumors. However, their quietness doesn’t mean they are dating.
