Scott Porter was born on July 14, 1979, in Omaha, Nebraska to Butch Porter and Robin Porter. The occupations of his parents have not been made public. He grew up alongside two of his siblings Ariana Porter and Brendan Porter.

He attended Lake Howell High School in Winter Park, Florida where he picked interest in football and played as a wideout or wide receiver until he graduated in 1997. He later moved to the University of Central Florida and sang vocal percussion in an a cappella vocal group while in college. He was also a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity while at the University of Central Florida.

Scott Porter made his television debut in 2006 when he played the role Casey Hughes on CBS soap opera “As the World Turns”. The soap opera is considered to be among the longest daytime running soap opera on TV and it is a sister show to “The Guiding Light”. Scott also appeared on The WB television series “The Bedford Diaries” on two episodes.

The year 2006 continued to prove to be a good year for Scott as he portrayed the role of Jason Street on NBC television series “Friday Night Lights” an optimistic football whose career ended after he sustained an injury that ruined him out of playing completely. However, it was rather difficult for him to accept his new reality of being a paraplegic because he actually had high hopes. Although when it was first aired, people talked about it a lot but the series never enjoyed good ratings.

Scott made his motion picture debut in 2007 when he played the role of Colin Thompson in the romantic comedy film “Music and Lyrics” as a more involved singer who was part of the fictional band PoP.  In the same year, he played the role of Young Rex Racer in the sports action comedy film “Speed Racer”.

He also registered his acting talent in the theater as he appeared in an Off-Broadway production Altar Boyz” in 2004. As he continues to grow in the acting industry, he got involved in playing voice roles. He played a voice role in the stop-motion sketch comedy series “Robot Chicken” and in “Marvel Anime: Wolverine” as Scott Summers.

In 2010, he appeared as Blake Calamar on CBS’s legal drama “The Good Wife” an investigator for a law firm. Scott landed a lead role in the comedy-drama television series “Hart of Dixie” as a lawyer named George Tucker from 2011-2015. He played a voice role in season four of “Ultimate Spider-Man”.

In 2019, he was on 2 episodes of CBS dark comedy web drama series “Why Women Kill” as Ralph Vlasin.  He has been used in several video games like “X-Men: Destiny”, “Marvel Heroes”, “The Walking Dead: Season Two” and many others.
