Q’orianka Kilcher was born on February 11, 1990, in Schweigmait, Germany. Her father is of Quechua-Huachipaeri descent from Peru and mother of Swiss-German heritage. Kilcher moved to the United States as a two years old and now holds a US citizenship.

At 12, Q’orianka was given a full scholarship to the Hollywood Musician Institute. This quickened her journey in search of Hollywood fame. In 2005, she appeared in the film “The New World”. The reviews were nothing short of outstanding but the movie made little profit in the box office because it only showed in 811 theaters worldwide

The film solidified her fan base and people spoke highly of her as she went on to win her first National Board of Review’s Award and Alma Award.

Also, Q’orianka founded a human rights organization named “On-q Initiative” to connect young Hollywood with youth activist leaders and projects in support of environmental sustainability, corporate accountability, and basic human rights.

On June 1, 2010, Q’orianka and her mother were arrested in front of the White House in Washington, D.C. Q’orianka chained herself to the gates in front of the White while her mother poured black paint on her to signify oil. Q’orianka was against President Barack Obama’s meeting with Peruvian President Alan García. She said Garcia sold land in the Amazon rainforest to corporations while suppressing indigenous protests. She and her mother were charged with disorderly conduct.

The charges were dropped on June 6, 2011, after they completed community service.
