Phyllis Logan was born on January 11, 1956, in Paisley, Renfrewshire Scotland to David and Betty. The actress was raised in nearby Johnstone and attended Johnstone High School. She moved to the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow and had to work at bars and gas stations to support herself during her studies. She graduated with the James Bridie gold medal in 1977.

Fortune began to favor her when she met Michael Radford, a movie director who included her in the cast of “Another Time, Another Place” as Janie. The film tells the story of rehabilitation program during the world war II as she played the role of a housewife married to Dougal played by Paul Young.

Phyllis Logan’s first husband was Paul Tender. Some people believed that the actress was never married to Paul, alluding she only lived with him as a lover. She legally married Kevin McNally whom she appeared alongside with on “Downton Abbey”. Together they have a son named David born in 1996. They live in Chiswick.

Phyllis Logan started her career with winning awards.
