Omri Katz was not the first to play John Ross. When the show began in 1979, Tyler Banks played John Ross up until 1983. Omri took over and played the role up until 1991 for a total of 149 episodes. He also reprised this role in the TV film “Dallas: J.R Returns”. While he was the most prominent player of the role, Omri wasn’t the last. From 2012 to 2014, Jose Henderson played the role on TNT’s revival of “Dallas”.

After “Dallas” in 1991, Omri joined the cast of “Eerie, Indiana” as the protagonist Marshall Tenner. He and his family moved to the small town of Eerie in Indiana where there are a stark scarcity of normal people and where there were a series of mysteries to be solved. The series was on for just one season as NBC didn’t renew after the season of 19 episodes all of which Omri Katz appeared in. The drama has gone on to become a subject of spinoffs in other networks, none of which Omri appeared in.

Omri Katz’s first feature non-TV film is “Matinee” the period film in 1993. it flopped in the box office but that isn’t the issue here. Katz’s second film happens to be the one for which he is most known. Hocus Pocus. The fantasy, comedic, and horror film in which Omri played the role of a teenager who inadvertently awoke three witches who rose to continue their plan of sucking the souls out of the children of the town. The film didn’t make a lot of money for Disney in the box office, in fact, it put them 16 million dollars back. But the film grew with the years and become a cult classic as it was continuously replayed yearly during Halloween season and won a great following, turning the cast members to a sort of legends.

After “Hocus Pocus”, Omri played six episodes in “The John Larroquette Show” the sitcom on NBC from 1993 to 1995. He has been in the series “General Hospital” and “Freaks and Geeks” (all guest appearances). In 2002, Omri Katz made his last appearance onset in the short and obscured film “Journey Into Night”. Although there is a film called “Perfect Girl” on Youtube from 2006.

Where is Omri Katz now?

There has been a handful of articles on the internet about the whereabouts of Omri Katz. Hundreds to thousands of words have been written to analyze what has become of the former actor since leaving the show and not many of them have tangle info to reveal beyong rehashing his career. We will start with his last seen status. Omri was last seen in public during the 25th year reunion of “Hocus Pocus” in Los Angeles in October 2019.

Normally, when we are not sure about any star’s whereabouts, we check with his wife – is he married, then he lives happily with his wife (and kids) somewhere. But there is no information to that regard on Omri Katz. No wife, no fiancee, not even an adult girlfriend rumor. In fact, you have to go back as far as 1991 to get to the time in which he was associated with a girl.

Hal Linden bio

Omri was just 15 years then and his date with 14-year-old Danielle Harris the actress who has been referred to as a “scream queen” and has made a great deal of a career from appearing mostly in horror movies, her most recognizable been the Halloween franchise. She played a small role in “Eerie, Indiana” and it must have been here that they met and probably dated if you can call whatever they had a date. Danielle has gone on to get married and now has two sons.

So where the heck is Omri Katz right now? The strong rumor about Omri is that he is now a hairdresser. A hairdresser. That. And that he shuttles between Los Angeles and his ancestral home in Israel.

Omri stands at 5 feet 10 inches (1.78 meters). For his net worth, better to Google how much an average hairdresser who shuttles between Los Angeles and Israel earns.
