Oge Okoye- Everything You Need To Know

Nigerian Actresses
oge okoye

Oge Okoye has garnered considerable commercial success from over 100 Nollywood movies, having made a name both in the industry here in Nigeria and on the international scene, we presume. Away from the appearing before the camera, the actress has also shown interest in producing movies as well. She has fallen in and out of love as well.

This might not be the perfect introduction for this thespian, but for Oge, there is simply no better way to write her profile.

Here is everything you need to know about her.

Birthplace, heritage, age

Oge Okoye was born in London to Late Mazi Okoye and Lolo Okoye on November 16, 1980. She is an only child of this couple who hail from the commercial city of Nnewi, Anambra State. Her parents decided to move back to Nigeria which might seem odd to many, today, seeing that her father was deciding and doing the opposite of what many Nigerian parents would these days. But it was in the 1980s and the oil boom made Nigeria a land of immense opportunity and it wasn’t as though the pounds was such a big deal against ’80s naira.

Whatever the reason for their return, they did return and there would be no complaints from Oge looking at how her life and career turned out. Oge had had her formative education in London where she completed her primary education before the family hit Lagos Airport. The family went on to settle in the serene city of Enugu.

Unlike many of her co-stars, Oge’s entry into the belly of the industry she has now excelled in was not accidental. Yes, she studied Theatre Arts at Unizik (Nnamdi Azikiwe University), Awka. She knew what she wanted, she was intentional from the word JAMB.

In spite of her baby face and forever young figure, Oge Okoye is 40 years old.

Oge Okoye: Career

During her undergraduate days at UNIZIK, Oge Okoye started appearing in small theater plays in preparation for a career in the show business. Her talent was not hidden as she fell more deeply in love with the art. Oge Okoye’s debut movie was “Spanner” in 2002. As her talent kept opening more TV roles for her, her beauty ensured she got roles in most romantic movies as a love interest of either Van Vicker or Jim Iyke and stars of like looks.

Her ability to adapt to various roles with ease made her endearing. Oge Okoye appeared in the movie “Blood Sisters” which tells the story of two sisters growing up in a world of poverty, where selfish desires are being realized and jealousy becomes the central issue of their household. The movie featured stars Genevieve Nnaji and Omotola Jalade Ekeinde in the lead roles.

In 2015, she joined the cast of M-NET telenovela dram “Hotel Majestic” alongside Ivie Okujaye, Sadiq Daba, Bukky Ajayi, etc. The series revolved around the quest to control an ancient family hotel and the consequences that follow with it. Oge Okoye has appeared in movies like “Snake Girl” “Blackberry Girls” “Black Bra” “Trinity” “Shock” and many, many others.

Marriage, daughter, controversies, net worth

Oge Okoye got married to entrepreneur Stanley Duru in 2005. The couple lived (un)happily (ignore the brackets) for seven years before they separated and divorced. However, the marriage produced two kids, a boy and a girl. After their divorce, there were reports from both parties through their proxies that the other was not faithful to their vows.

In 2018, a video leaked on the internet showing Ms. Okoye’s visit to Pastor Alph Lukau’s church. Many Nigerians alleged that the actor went in search of miracles, drawing similarities with Jim Iyke’s SCOAN visit in 2012. There was no problem with Oge Okoye seeking for miracles in any religious gathering, why should there be, this is Nigeria, one of the most religious, if not the number one most religious country on earth, however, this is the woke generation and anyone must be cancelled and dragged.

To make matters worse for Oge, this video was leaked during the period the man of God she visited was facing a scandal over a fake miracle he performed by raising a certain Elliot from the dead. In an Instagram post, Ms. Okoye cleared the air, explaining that she only went to the church to stand in for her aunt who was battling a terminal disease. We believe her. You don’t have to believe us/her.

There was also a time Oge found herself on the wrong side of the Social Media flame. Oge Okoye had made a post on Instagram where she shared a photo of puppies with the caption: “Yipeeee. My new babies just arrived. #Rob #Rosy”. Innocent post? not so much. It turned out that the image was earlier shared by American Reality Star Kenya Moore who called Oge out through a fan page for sharing the screenshot. The post started with: “Some lady in Africa took a screenshot of…” and ended with the hashtag of Fraudulent.

It was messy.

Oge has had her share of beefs and industry fights, the most notable one being Ini Edo who used to be her bosom friend. No one is certain what started their fight but there were whispers that it was something not unconnected to a man. Although the duo has reconciled, their friendship is no longer how it used to be. And while they fought, they fought for years and, at one point, they were said to have gone physical.

For her net worth, we are not sure; or no, we are sure: Oge Okoye is not broke.
