Mindy Cohn’s career began with the creation of NBC sitcom “The Facts of Life” in 1979. The producer, a certain Norman Lear and the star of the show Charlotte Rhea (not to be confused with Caroline Rhea) came to Mindy’s school to get the feel of what it was like to be in an all-girls school. Ms. Rhea was strongly drawn to 13-year-old Mindy and she brought her on board “The Facts of Life”. The two would remain close to this day.

Cohn went on to play the role of Natalie Green a chubby Jewish teenage girl with huge sense of humor and self-worth. She played this role for nine years and 202 episodes. So much that this is the role that everyone knows her with. In fact, it became an alter ego and it sometimes comes between her and other roles in the eyes of filmmakers who would say things in the cusp of  “We don’t want Natalie in our movie” and “Where have you been? We want to see more of you”. 

Mindy Cohn has done a tremendous amount of voice acts including “The Kids from Room 402” the animated series on Fox Family between 1999 and 2001 and playing Velma Dinkley in more than thirty credits if Scooby-Doo cartoon series of drama, movies, and video games.

Cohn doesn’t have blockbusting movies to her name and there are two reasons for this. One, in those days, filmmakers see TV actors as different from feature film actors and do not expect a TV actor to excel in films. And two, many actors came to see Natalie Green in Cohn and it was hard to see her fit into any other character.

Ms. Cohn is such a big actress but she is not that big. In her candid nature, she admits to being broke many times. And it was variously reported that her mentor and benefactor Catherine Rhea sometimes use her influence to get producers to give her roles.

Perhaps we shouldn’t talk about this here but Mindy has powerful friends in the industry besides Catherine Rhea. She is good friends with Angelina Jolie and her brother James Haven so much that she is even the godmother of two of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s children.

Relationship – is she married?

Mindy Cohn is not married. According to IMDb, she is the only one of the four “The Facts of Life” girls not to have gotten married nor have children. We weren’t going to take IMDb’s words for this, so we decided to check.

Lisa Whelchel played Blair Warner in the show. She was born in 1963 and besides acting, she is a singer, songwriter, public speaker, and author. Whelchel got married to Pastor Steven Cauble in 1988 and together they have three kids. They divorced in 2012.

Kim Fields played Tootie Ramsey in the series. She was born in 1969 to actress and director Chip Fields. Besides her role in Facts of Life, she is known as Regine Hunter in the series “Living Single” on Fox in the ’90s. She got married to producer Jonathon Freeman in 1995. The married held till 2001 when they separated and divorced. The union had no child. Then Kim began dating and married the broadway actor Christopher Morgan in 2007. This union is blessed with two kids.

Born in 1966, Nancy McKeon played the role of Jo Polniaczek in Facts. She dated actor Michael J. Fox in the 1980s. It didn’t work out. She got married in 2003 to Marc Andrus in 2003. The couple is blessed with two daughters named Aurora and Harlow Andrus.
