Matt Biedel – Five Facts About The Narcos Mexico Star

Male Actors
Matt Biedel

Matt Biedel is a well-read actor. Yes, he has an MFA in acting which is not something you see a lot of the time in the streets of Hollywood. But that is not all there is to the actor who was Daryl Petsky. There are a couple of other facts broken into five items.

Let’s do this.

He lived in Mexico

Matt Biedel was born Matthew Thomas Biedel in July 1975 in Lake Oswego, Oregon. He grew up in Oregon but Mexico called and he lived there for a couple of years which is where he learned to speak Spanish fluently something that came in handy in Hollywood for him.

He is 46 years old.

He has an MFA in acting

Actors are not big in schooling beyond the first degree. There are not a lot of them with a second degree and there are even fewer of them with a master’s in performing art. Biedel is one of such actors with an MFA in acting, a degree he earned from the University of San Diego/Old Globe.

Award-winning actor and insanely rich TV star, Jim Parsons of the Big Bang Theory fame was a classmate, with Biedel, in San Diego.

He was a truck driver

Actors and actresses have all had stories to tell pre-success in Hollywood. Working as a waiter is one of the most used odd jobs for them. Some did dishes and sang or danced in nightclubs. I don’t think I have seen an actor who used to drive trucks.

Matt Biedel has now broken the record. He used to drive trucks to make the proverbial ends meet.

He is Agent Petsky and nobody’s stooge

“Narcos: Mexico” is a crime and biographical show about Mexico’s illegal drug business and drug wars on Netflix. Biedel played the role of Agent Petsky of the Drug Enforcement Administration involved in Operation Leyenda which sees the DEA kidnap drug dealers and their associates to catch the big fish and break up the drug empire.

Matt Biedel was a main cast member for season two, featuring in all but two of the ten episodes in the season.

Biedel is also in the limited series “Midnight Mass” a supernatural and horror tv series created and directed by Mike Flanagan and starring Zack Gilford, Kate Siegel, Hamish Linklater, etc. Biedel played the role of Sturge, the Crocket Island handyman and nobody’s stooge.

He is currently on set

In October 2021, Netflix announced that they are making “The Fall of the House of Usher” a limited series inspired by an 1839 short story of the same title by American legendary writer Edgar Allan Poe. Mike Flanagan the filmmaker who Matt Biedel knows too well from “Midnight Mass” will produce and direct the show.

The series is expected in the latter part of 2022.

Bonus fact: He is husband to Amy and a father of two.
