Moy’s father was a high school teacher by profession and his mother was a professional language therapist. He has one elder sister. Moy’s parents divorced when he was still little. He attended the University of California, Davis, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Japanese and a minor in linguistics.

Mathew Moy made a name for himself in the CBS television sitcom “2 Broke Girls”. The series tells the story of two waitresses in their mid-20s Max Black, child of a poor working-class mother and an unknown father, and Caroline Channing who was born rich but somehow lost her silver spoon because her father messed up. The duo worked together at a Brooklyn diner, where they nursed the dream of running a cupcake shop one day. Moy played the character of Han Margaret Lee, owner of the Williamsburg Diner with limited American culture. The series was nominated for 12 Emmy Awards, winning in 2012 for its Art Direction. However, CBS cancelled its sixth season.

He drove himself to urgent care, where doctors later discovered bleeding in his brain, but no further deterioration.
