Madelyn Sher: Five Things We Know

Madelyn Sher is a well-recognized actress, dancer, choreographer, and producer. She holds a B.A. in dance and philosophy from Macaulay Honors College at CUNY Lehman. Madelyn was born in Manhattan in the East village but her parents moved to St. George, Staten when she was just five years old.

She gathered popularity through her character “Amy” in her series “The Baker and The Beauty”. She resides in Brooklyn and is relatively new to the movie industry. It’s okay if her name is foreign to you, here are five things we know about Madelyn Sher.

She went to Art School

Madelyn Sher went to Children’s Harbor Montessori School then PS 16 for elementary school. She attended Professional Performing Arts School (PPAS) in Manhattan for her Middle school, and then went to Laguardia High school. After graduating, Madelyn went to CUNY Lehman College where she was in the Macaulay Honors program.

She also studied dance at The Ailey School of Dance.

Madelyn Sher is a successful Choreographer

Madelyn Sher is known to be a multidisciplinary artist. She’s not only an actress but also a choreographer and teacher. Her choreography has seen various spotlights at various memorable events. Her choreography has been presented at 70 Lefferts Place, Theater for the New City, SMUSH Gallery; MERDE at The Footlight, Downtown Art, Triple 9 Festival, and Triskelion Arts.

Madelyn Sher has also collaborated with various well-known composers such as Daniel Johnson, Leo Hardman-Hill, and Adam O’Farrill. Madelyn has danced for important occasions and personalities like Evan Ray Suzuki, REDi Dance Company, Amirov Dance Theater, Vangeline Theater, Molly Gorin, Svea Schneider, Rina Espiritu, Ni’Ja Whitson, and many others.

Madelyn’s parents were both Artist

Madelyn Sher started off taking dance classes in Manhattan. She added acting to her lessons when they moved to  Staten.

Madelyn Sher was born in art as both of her parents are artists. Her father is a Musician and her Mother a Visual artist. Every year she would perform in a production titled “The Nutcracker” which combined both acting and dancing. In one of the years of production, she realized that although she wanted to be a dancer she’s also passionate and curious about acting.

At PS 16, she did some school play and storytelling contests, because it was a professional performing art school it also made her more focused and serious on performing arts for the three years she attended.

Madelyn Sher is an award-winning producer

In the movie industry, Madelyn Sher is more of a producer than an Actress. Her film “Looking Inwood”, was screened at the CUNY film festival, and won the Filmmaker Award 2018.

Sher says the movie is inspired by winter and a deep urge to make humor with dance.

Sher is a Millionaire

There is no exact estimate of Madelyn’s net worth but in 2021, it was estimated to be between $4 million to $5 million. The estimate was based on incomes from her multidisciplinary skills in the industry, businesses, and assets.
