Julian Ovenden: Age and Background

Son of the Reverend Canon John Ovenden, a former chaplain to Queen Elizabeth the second, Julian Ovenden was born on November 29 1976 in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England.[He has two siblings. As a child, he began to show strong interest in singing and his voice rose above the staves in the St Paul’s Cathedral Choir, London.  The singing passion won  him a music scholarship to study at Eton College. He studied music at New College, Oxford on a choral scholarship.

He studied drama at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art. Ovenden is known to be an opera singer but he also trained in musical theater where he constantly makes a living from nowadays.

Career

Julian Ovenden started his career in Theater. In 1999, he appeared in ‘King Lear’ which was written by William Shakespeare and was directed by Julio Ninagawa, the legendary Japanese director. Ovenden won an award in 2002 in his role in “Merrily we Rol along”. The musical was directed by Michael Grandage and Ovenden essayed the lead role of Franklin. It premiered at Dollar warehouse in London and was awarded the Oliver Award for the Best Musical.

His next big role was in “A woman of No Important” which premiered at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, London. The production was directed by was directed Illegitimate Son of Mrs. Arbuthnot. While pursuing a highly successful theatre career, Julian Ovenden started doing movies and television. His first television role was “Foyle’s War” in 2002 and during this time he became a household name in Britain. His role of Dr. David Cherton in “The Royal” earned his huge fan following.

In 2010, he appeared in a popular movie “Any Human Heart” and mesmerized audiences with the Portrayal of Ernest Hemingway. His next
prominent role was in “Downtown Abbey”, in which he was cast as Charles Blake.  The television series “Related” which looked into the lives of four American Italian sisters, was Julian Ovenden’s the first American Television show. He was with the show from 2003 to 2006

Ovenden moved on to essay the role of Eric Burden in Cashmore Mafia. In 2017, he was signed for Knight fall, a popular Television career. He made his film debut with the movie “A Christmas Carol” the musical in 2004. In 2014, he had a concert Orchestra, at the Carnegie Hall. In 2016, his album ” Be my love” was launched with great reviews.

Julian Ovenden- Personal life

Ovenden lives with his wife Kate Royal  whom he married in the year 2010. Kate is is an English lyric soprano. She is the daughter of Steve Royal, a singer and songwriter for television, and of Carolyn Royal, a former model and dancer. You wold think Kate and Julian would be making symphonies only, they also made babies ; a son and a daughter Ovenden can play piano ,trumpet and Trombine.
