1. How old is Judd Hirsch?

Judd Hirsch was born in The Bronx, New York City on March 15, 1935. His father Joseph Sidney Hirsch was an electrician while his mother’s occupation is unknown. Judd Hirsch has a brother named Roland Hirsch whom he grew up with in The Bronx and Brooklyn.

Judd Hirsch attended DeWitt Clinton High School in The Bronx after which he proceeded to the City College of New York where he studied Physics. He later studied acting at HB Studio in New York. Judd, however, did not start his acting career immediately after he graduated from college. He served in the United States Army and later worked as an engineer for Westinghouse before he landed a job in the theater.

Judd Hirsch has a son named Alexander from his first marriage to Elisa Sadaune. The marriage, however, lasted for only four years (1963-1967) ending in divorce. Their son Alex was born in 1966. His first marriage could have left him with a bad taste as he remained unmarried till December 24, 1992, when he married fashion designer Bonni Sue Chalkin. Together they welcomed a daughter, Montana, and son, London.

Unfortunately, they got divorced in 2005 and the reason for their divorce wasn’t made public.  Judd waited 25 years after his first divorce before marrying another wife. It’s been 27 years after his second marriage collapsed and he has not made any plans of marrying again. He is currently Eighty-four years and the thought of getting married at this age might not sit with him very well.

3. When did he make his acting debut?

Judd Hirsch made his acting debut in 1974 when he appeared in the TV series “The Law” as Murray Stone. Prior to this, he appeared in one or two films in an uncredited role. Judd Hirsch later appeared in 2 episodes of the television sitcom “Rhoda” which aired on CBS.  Judd portrayed the role of Mike and was nominated for Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in the Series.

Judd later starred in 22 episodes of the series “Delvecchio” which aired on CBS on Sundays. His major breakout role was in American sitcom “Taxi” as Alex Rieger. The series first aired on ABC from September 1978, to May 1982, before going on NBC. The series tells the story of the everyday life of New Yorkers and it won so many awards but most especially, Judd won an Emmy Award for his outstanding role in the series twice.
