Jon Tenney: Age and Early Life
Jon Tenney was born Jonathan Frederick Tenney in Princeton New Jersey to a psychiatrist mother Dr. Lillian Sandra Baum, and a father, Frederick Haworth Tenney, who was a research physicist. He is the youngest in a family of four and he is a cousin of Jay Wolf and Thea Andrews. Tenney’s maternal grandparents were Polish Jewish immigrants, while his father had English ancestry.
Tenney obtained a B.A degree from Vassar College in 1984 where he majored in drama and philosophy. He proceeded to The Juilliard School’s Drama Division as a member of Group 1986 but left Juilliard early due to his success on stage, notably with the Mike Nichols-directed national tour of “The Real Thing”.

Jon Tenney: Career
Jon Tenney started off his career when he left Julliard School. He first landed a role in the play “The Real Thing”. He was a regular in broadway and off-broadway productions and it seemed like he was going to be a stage performer before he unlocked the next level in his career by playing the role of Special Agent Fritz Howard, the husband of Brenda Leigh Johnson in TNT’s “The Closer” between 2005 and 2012.
In 2013, he starred with Rebecca Romijn in TNT’s “King & Maxwell”, as Sean King, a former Secret Service agent, and lawyer who works as a private investigator. Unfortunately, the series was canceled after one season. Tenney would later appear Costarred on three other TV series that were canceled on four major networks.
Perhaps he is unlucky when it comes to television series, but he was a rock in motion graphics. Tenney appeared in several films, including the villainous CEO of Benbrook Oil Company in “Free Willy 2: The Adventure Home “and the friend of Alex Whitman (Matthew Perry) in “Fools Rush In”. He played the role of Andrew Nichols in the political thriller series “Scandal” created by Shonda Rhimes. Tenney guest-starred twice in the third season of Lois & Clark, which starred his then-wife Teri Hatcher.
