Jodie Sweetin was born on January 19, 1982, in Los Angeles. She was raised by her Uncle Sam Sweetin, a handyman and his second wife Janice who adopted her when she was 9 months old because her biological parents were in prison. However, it was not a full adoption as his biological father was a one-fourth Native American, but her adoption was finalized when she was two years old.

She attended Los Alamitos High School in Los Alamitos, California where she took part in a musical play and began to prepare for the acting journey. Jodie appeared in various TV commercials and also studied ballet and tap dancing when she was three years old.

After appearing in several commercials and her first film “Valerie” as Pamela courtesy of her mother Janice who began to prepare very early in the show business, Jodie caught the attention of Thomas Miller and Robert Boyett, the producers who were in charge of the sitcom “Full House”. The series narrates the events of widowed father Danny Tanner who enlists his brother-in-law Jesse Katsopolis and best friend Joey Gladstone to help raise his three daughters, oldest D.J., middle child Stephanie and youngest Michelle in his San Francisco home

Jodie started playing the role of Stephanie Tanner in the sitcom when she was five and grew with the show with fans showering her with love. Her role earned her a Young Artist Award for Outstanding Young Comedienne in 1990. She appeared in a few television films while still a cast member of “Full House” before playing a voice role in the direct-to-video film “Farce of the Penguins”.

In 2007, Jodie hosted season two of the dance contest “Pants-Off Dance-Off”. After months of a whirlwind romance, they married in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 14, 2007. Together they have one daughter, Zoie.  On November 19, 2008, Sweetin filed for legal separation from Herpin. The couple finalized on April 20, 2010.

In 2010, he became pregnant for her boyfriend Morty Coyle. Their daughter Beatrix was born the same year and the duo became engaged in January 2011. Jodie married Morty on March 15, 2012, in Beverly Hills. In June 2013, she filed for legal separation from her husband. The divorce was finalized in September 2016.

After tasting fame at a young age, Jodie started drinking alcohol at the age of 14, this was about the time the sitcom “Full House” ended. She revealed that her decision to do drugs was out of boredom. She used ecstasy, methamphetamine, and crack, among others and in her memoir entitled the “unSweetined” she narrated how the drugs almost ruined her life.

Jodie worked as a clinical logistics coordinator at a Los Angeles drug rehab center and completed her degree as a drug and alcohol counselor. She is now clean and doubles as a public advocate for addiction and recovery.
