Harry Treadaway: Early Life And Twin Brother

Harry Treadaway was born on September 10, 1984, at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital in Exeter, Devon. His father worked as an architect while his mother was a primary school teacher. Harry has a twin brother named Luke who is also an actor and a singer. He also has an elder brother Sam, an artist. Harry and his twin brother Luke attended Queen Elizabeth’s Community College in Crediton, Devon, where they played in the twice Devon Cup-winning Rugby Union team.

Harry formed a punk band called Lizardsun with his twin brother, in secondary school after he was inspired by American singer Eddie Vedder. It became clear he wanted to be in the show business. at the age of 16, he was accepted into the National Youth Theatre, alongside his brother. In his first acting job, Harry was strapped to Luke as a conjoined twin fronting a punk band in the 2006 film “Brothers Of The Head”, his first professional acting job. He graduated from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art in 2006. However, while he was still studying, he committed himself to acting and appeared in “Miss Marple: Sleeping Murder” for ITV television, and a reading of a new play, Myrna Molloy, for Operating Theatre Company in 2006.

Harry played the role of Tom Howe, the band’s rhythm guitarist and songwriter, and his brother Luke played Barry Howe, the lead singer in his debut film “Brothers Of The Head” a film about conjoined talented twins. During rehearsals and throughout the shoot, they were connected to each other for fifteen hours a day, wearing sewn-together wetsuits or a harness. They also slept in one bed to simulate the conjoined nature of their characters. They performed all tracks featured in the film themselves live on stage, as well as recording nine tracks for the soundtrack album.

Harry made his theater debut in Mark Ravenhill’s Over There at the Royal Court in 2009. He has acted in the horror film “The Disappeared”, directed by Johnny Kevorkian, and the science fiction fantasy film “City of Ember”. In 2016, he was cast as one of the leads in Audience’s “Mr. Mercedes”, based on the novel of the same name, opposite Brendan Gleeson. His part was that of Brady Hartsfield, a brilliant young psychopath who decides to engage in a cat-and-mouse game with Gleeson’s Bill Hodges. Anton Yelchin had originally been given the role of Hartsfield, but following Yelchin’s death in June 2016, it was announced that his role had been recast with Treadaway assuming the part. In 2018, he reprised the role in the show’s second season.

Harry is also an accomplished songwriter. he wrote Sink or Swim which he and Luke performed both on film and on the soundtrack of Brothers of the Head. He also performed his song “Raise This Up” in “Brothers of the Head” as a solo performance during the scene in which Tom Howe’s girlfriend breaks his heart. Harry has been giving his all in the acting business including spending a six-week cowboy boot camp in New Mexico for his role in the 2013 action flick “The Lone Ranger”.
