In 1999, Elaine married playwright, screenwriter, and Pulitzer Prize winner Neil Simon. As Neil Simon aged, he started battling with a kidney failure with his long term friend Bill Evans donating one of his kidneys so he could a little bit longer in 2004. Neil had other ailments like Alzheimer and dementia. He died at the age of 91 on the morning of August 26, 2018.
