Christa Miller was born on May 28, 1964, in Manhattan, New York City, to Chuck Miller, an aeronautical engineer, and Bonnie Trompeter, a model. Her father wanted her to become a legal practitioner but she decided to follow the footsteps of her aunt Susan Saint James and her husband, the NBC Sports executive Dick Ebersol, show biz stars. She has a sister and brother named John Miller.

When she was six months old, she appeared in a TV commercial of Wonder Bread. This was immediately followed by an appearance in an Ivory Soap commercial. Christa was also on the cover the American women’s magazine Redbook.

At the time she was beginning to hit the runways, a benign bone tumor forced her to take a break until after she underwent a successful surgery. She attended Convent of the Sacred Heart, an independent Roman Catholic all-girls school in Manhattan. Christa returned to the runways but soon transitioned into acting after relocating to Los Angeles.

Christa Miller made her acting debut on CBS sitcom “Kate & Ellie” alongside her mother’s Sister Susan Saint James. She first appeared in the sitcom in 1985 as a student then had a recurring role in 1988 as Blair.

In 1990, Christa played the role of Laurie Batan in the CBS comedy-drama series “Northern Exposure”. She made her motion picture debut in 1992 in the film “Stepfather II” as Beth Davis. Back to her TV appearances, she appeared in the NBC sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”, and “Party of Five”.

Christa appeared in the live-action sitcom “Seinfeld” twice. First was in 1993 when she played the role of Ms. De Granmont in an episode of the “Sniffing Accountant” and in 1995 as Paula George’s girlfriend from his painting class.

Her breakout role on TV came in 1995 when she portrayed the character of Kate O’Brien, a cosmetics saleswoman on ABC sitcom “The Drew Carey Show” for up to 183 episodes. She got the role of Kate after she sent the video of her unaired “Seinfeld” episode to the casting directors “The Drew Carey Show”. She was soon regarded as the queen of sitcoms.

Between the years 2002-2003, he voiced the role of Cleopatra in the Canadian-American animated sitcom “Clone High”. Christa soon played the role of Jordan Sullivan in the medical comedy-drama series “Scrubs” from 2001-2010. The series was written by her husband. It was aired first on NBC and later on ABC.  The series focuses on the lives of employees in a teaching hospital. She was nominated in the category of Satellite Award for Best Supporting Actress – Series, Miniseries or Television Film for her role. “Scrubs” was the longest role she played on TV as her two real-life pregnancies were written into the series.

In 2018, she played the role of Maggie Harris in the thriller film “Breaking In”. The film grossed over $51 million from the box office and also received mixed reviews. Christa also portrayed the role of Ellie Torres in 102 episodes of the sitcom “Cougar Town”. The series was first aired on ABC for three seasons but later moved to TBS. Her role won her a Gracie Award for Outstanding Female Actor in a Supporting Role in a Comedy Series.

Christa is still active in the acting industry having appeared in an episode of ABC “Whiskey Cavalier” as Kelly Ashland.
