Burn Gorman was born in Hollywood, California USA on 1 September 1974 to a father who was a professor of linguistics at the University of California in Westwood, Los Angeles. The occupation of Burn Gorman’s mother is unknown. Gorman was raised alongside three older sisters and when he was 7 years of age, the family left the US and moved to London.

Burn’s parents are British, the actor holds British and American citizenship. During his time in Hollywood, Burn picked interest in acting and while the family returned to England, the interest never waned. He proceeded to study at Manchester Metropolitan University School of Theatre and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Acting.

Even though Burn had an interest in acting from an early age, his acting career did not start immediately until wellinto his twenties, in 1998, when he had a recurring role of in the British soap opera “Coronation Street” as Ben Andrews. The soap opera was aired by Granada Television. Burn made another appearance in a British medical series drama “Casualty” as Geoff Simpson in 2000.

Then he returned in 2001, making an appearance in the film “Love is Not Enough” where he played the role of Al Weisberger. This was also followed with an appearance in the British crime drama film “A Good Thief” where he portrayed the character of DC Fairchild. He showed flashes of brilliance in BBC’s “Bleak House”, an adaptation of the Charles Dickens novel of the same title, portraying the role of William Guppy.

Gorman’s breakout role came in 2006 when he played Owen Harper in the British science fiction television series, “Torchwood”. The show’s audience grew rapidly and with each new series. In the making of its fourth series, it became a co-production of BBC One and Starz.

Burn’s acting credits began to rise after “Torchwood”. His acting credits are not limited to his British territory. He was also busy featuring in few American films like “The Best Man” and “Fred Claus” an American fantasy film, and what a way it was to export his talent to Hollywood, a place he left when he was seven.  In 2013, he appeared in the American sitcom “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” where he portrayed the role of a scientist.

Burn appeared in HBO’s sensation “Game of Thrones” as Karl Tanner. Remember him, he led the mutiny at Craster’s Keep in Season Three killing Lord Commander Mormont. Jon Snow led a group of volunteers to capture or kill the mutineers. His one one one battle with Karl Tanner is one of the highlights season four.

Burn Gorman also appeared as Dr. Charlie Hermann in the science fiction movie “Pacific Rim”. The film expanded his fame.  Burn has also provided voice roles in the video games “Risen” and “Star Wars: The Old Republic”.

Besides actig, Burn Gorman is a talented musician. He even has a nickname “Beat Box Burn’ or Burn Baby Burn”. He has performed alongside artists like Neneh Cherry, Groove Armada and Rodney P. He was a member of Drool Skool, a human Beatbox that features DukeBox and Shlomo. In 2003, he crowned BBC 1Xtra Human Beatbox Champion.

Burn is married, it seems, to an English school teacher Sarah and together they have three children.  They had their first-born, a son, Max Hugh Gorman in 2006, their daughter Nell was born on January 25, 2009, and their last child, Rosa was born in September 2014.

There are reports that Burn is not married to Sarah, that the two just cohabit. The actor has not said anything about the reports. We assume the couple is still together. They strike us a happy couple.
