Brett Gelman was born in a park

Brett Gelman was born in High Park, Illinois on October 6th, 1976. A small town, this wasn’t the best place to grow up for young Gelman. Even as a boy he already had eyes for big things. “It’s a very beautiful place,” he admitted years later, “but I wouldn’t say that I fit in. As soon as I could come into the city, I did.”

His father was a photo salesman and Jewish. There is not a lot that is known about his mother but he has a younger sister. For education, Gelman studied in High Park High School and the University of North Carolina School of Arts where he studied classical theater.

His career began in 2004

It is impossible to place a thumb at the exact year in which Gelman began his career. Brett Gelman’s career can be traced to after his university day when he joined a sketch group called Mr. A$$, another improv group, and had a couple of appearances at the theatre in New York City.

But it was in 2004 that he was first seen on a screen. His debut was an improvisational comedy “Blackballed: The Bobby Dukes Story”. Over the next few years, Gelman would feature in a series of small and feature-length comedy films some of which he produced or wrote himself including “Gregory Go Boom” (2013) and “Lemon” 2016 respectively.

It wasn’t always comedy or voice roles for the star as he was recently a recurring part of “Mr. Mercedes”, the crime series based on Stephen King trilogy on Audience Network.

Gelman is also a web actor or what do you call actors on Netflix productions? From 2017 to 2019, he was part of the “Stranger Things” on Netflix. He played the role of the flawed Russian-speaking character. Reacting to the facts that he played bad men, he told the Chicago Tribune that:  “A great character is a great character. And if you’re presented with that opportunity to play them, no matter what their moral or social make-up is, you’re gonna get a lot out of it.”

Brett Gelman got married in 2015

Brett Gelman is a married man. He got married to Janicza Bravo in 2015. As most of the actors we know come to do, he got married to a show person like himself. Janicza is a director, a writer, a producer, and also a photographer. She was born in New York City by Latin American parents.

An alumnus of New York University, she became active in the industry in 2010. One of her most known work is “Gregory Go Boom” which she produced, edited, directed, and co-wrote with a certain Brett Gelman. Ms. Bravo won Short Film Jury Award: US Fiction at the Sundance Film Festival. We are not sure, but it may during the making of this film that she won the heart of the man who would later become her husband. (According to the Filmmaker Magazine, Bravo was Gelmans longtime girlfriend. There is no way you could pass two years as a longtime).

The couple lives in Los Angeles.

Net worth

Brett Gelman is 6 feet 1 inch (or 1.85 m) tall. An impressive height. His net worth is a not so impressive half of a million dollars. You don’t be in the industry for more than fifteen years and make a name for yourself and still wallow in the bracket of actors on six digits.
