Billy Magnussen was born in Queens, New York, to Daina, an aerobics instructor, and Greg Magnussen, a professional bodybuilder, and kickboxer. He was raised alongside two younger brothers Dane and Jesse. His family lived in Queens until the age of 10, when they relocated to Cumming, Georgia.

As it has always been with kids who grew to embrace the entertainment industry because their parents were actors, Billy first love was the sports. As a child, he was heavily influenced by his parent’s profession which made him register for a membership at the gym. He also became a member of a band in New York called Reserved for Yondee.

Billy made his television debut on CBS television soap opera “As the World Turns” as Casey Hughes the only son of Tom and Margo, who was always quiet and cool-headed, and hated when his parents fought. In 2010, Billy appeared in the French-American co-production film “Twelve” the film was inspired from a novel by the same name. Billy played the role of Neil Thomas in the World War II drama film “The Lost Valentine”. The film was an adaptation from the bestseller novel written by James Michael Pratt of the same name.

Billy was the main cast in the film “Surviving Family,” as Alex D’Amico. The film tells the story of people living with mental illness. Billy landed one of his career biggest roles in the musical fantasy film “Into the Woods” as Rapunzel’s Prince. Billy has appeared in other television series and films.

Back to theater plays where he cherished most, Billy appeared on stage in “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike.” The play premiered in McCarter theatre in New Jersey, Lincoln Centre, and John Golden Theatre. The play was nominated for six Tony Awards. Billy is also a musician. He was once a contributing songwriter for the New York City-based rock band The Dash. He plays bass in the New York City-based band Reserved for Rondee.
