Amanda Pflugrad: Early Life

Pflugard was born in Oregon, USA to football coach Robin Pflugrad and Oregon gymnast Marlene. She grew up alongside her brother Aaron.

Growing up, Pflugrad seemed to have her work cut out for her, she recounted having her Mom involve her in gymnastics at the early age of five, she also busied herself by always attending her father’s football games, which seemed to kindle her passion for the game.

She gained admission into Oregon University in 2006,  where she majored in broadcast journalism and minored in communications. Throughout her four years period in college, she was part of the Oregon Cheerleading team, and during her senior year, was opportuned to serve as a captain in the prestigious team.

In 2008, her prominence as a cheerleader was laudable, hence, she was sports illustrated cheerleader of the week.

In March 2008, she joined the Warsaw sports marketing center and served the marketing center as an assistant to Jim Warsaw.

Likewise, in January 2010 she channeled her energy towards building a career in the TV entertainment industry which she was passionate about. Her Kickstarter was working as a  Side Line reporter for Altitude Sports. However, her work there lasted for only a month as she goes ahead to try out suitable jobs for herself.

After that, she worked for Fox Arizona as a cheerleader associated with Oregon University, she also doubled as a writer for Sun Dail Athletics covering the ASU Women’s Gymnastics Team during their season. Her work with FOX Sports Arizona however ended in 2013.

Previously In 2011, she joined Radio Disney, hence polishing her hosting and reporting skills. She worked diligently with them for almost two years, and this opened the door for the offer from Boston Celtics where she worked from May 2015.

In the 2013-2014 season, she served as a sideline reporter for CBS Sports Network. Her job entailed covering the AVP Beach Volleyball Tour. She was also tasked with interviewing Olympic athletes, delivering live sideline update, and hosting features.

During the 2014 – 2015 season, she went further in her career, by joining as a team reporter for the New York Jets.

In 2018, she was the insider reporter for the ESPN/SEC Network where she covered women’s gymnastics and also a sideline reporter for PAC-12 Network.

During an interview back in 2012, she admitted to have been inspired by Samantha Steele, who she tried to emulate by studying her works. She also acknowledged her admiration for the poise and confidence portrayed by the ForSports Arizona’s Jody Jackson, and had tried to apply and develop that into his; writing.

Presently, Pflugrad serves as a reporter/host for the Boston Celtics. Part of her job includes performing pre and post-game interviews with the players and the coaches, delivering game analysis, as well as providing up-to-date updates from practices and training.

She also hosts the Celtics life program show during every home game.

The reporter agreed that most of the time, interviewing the athletes could get as frustrating as getting a one-word answer, and she try as much as possible to respect the fact that they have their heads in the game and wouldn’t be in the talking mode, but with her know-how in play, she subtly but progressively draws the answers out of them, hence a win/win.
