Alan Ritchson was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He was born to an Air Force Chief Sergeant Master father and a teaching mother. Mr. and Mrs. Ritchson has three sons of which Alan is the second. Due to the nature of his father’s job, the family moved around a lot during Alan’s childhood.

He was able to find some permanence in Niceville, Florida where he completed his high school education. Ritchson also attended Okaloosa Walton Community College where he obtained an associate of arts degree in 2003.

Alan Ritchson’s career is in phases that cover many aspects of the entertainment industry. He was a model for a couple of years. His career began in Abercrombie & Fitch (A&F), a casual wears company that is in fact one of the founding fathers of American capitalism, in existence since 1892 and which used to be notorious for its use of nude models.

Other organizations he worked for (or with) include Los Angeles agency Vision Model Management, N2N Bodywear, InternationalJock, etc.

Before his modeling career, Alan had, in 2004, been part of American Idol. And no, you won’t remember him as he didn’t go far in the show. His acting career began in 2006 when he appeared in the horror film, “The Butcher”.

He went on to play a handful of minimal roles in TV, films, and voice roles. Until 2013 when he appeared in “The Hunger Games” and it can be said that his career took a turn.

He was, also, in SyFy’s “Blood Drive” as the lead role in a series that didn’t survive more than one season. Then he played a recurring role in “Titan” the superhero science fiction for DC Universe. He was on Spike’s “Blue Mountain State” as Thad, a role he played for 39 episodes between 2010 and 2011. He had one-episode appearances in CBS’ police drama “CSI: Miami” and the British science fiction series “Black Mirror”.

On the movie aspect, he was in “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle” as Raph, one of the main cast in 2014, and also in its sequence in 2016. In 2016, he appeared in the comic science fiction “Laser Team”. One of his most recent film roles comes in the comic horror “Office Uprising”.

Alan Richtson has also done some singing and has a full album to show for it, “This Is Next Time” from 2016.

Alan’s later career

In 2020, he was in the show “Legend of Tomorrow” where he reprised his Hank Hall role from “Supergirl” from 2019 on the CW. In the same year, he was part of “Ghosts of War” the supernatural horror film written and directed by Eric Bress starring, also, Brenton Thwaites, Theo Rossi, Skylar Astin, Kyle Gallner, and released on DirecTV in June 2020.

In March 2021 Lionsgate released, digitally, “Dark Web: Cicada 3301”, an action-comedy thriller film directed by Alan Ritchson and starring Jack Kesy, Conor Leslie, Ron Funches, and Ritchson himself.

In February 2022, Amazon Prime Video released “Reacher”, a crime thriller series based on the Jack Reacher book series by British thriller writer Lee Child. This eight-episode show is based on “Killing Floor”, Child’s 1997 debut novel in which Reacher is arrested for a crime he didn’t commit and he not only has to free himself but bust the local conspiracy with monumental reach.

Alan Ritchson played the title role of Jack Reacher, a jaw-breaker former US Army military policeman.

In reviewing the well-received show, the Guardian couldn’t resist a dig at Tom Cruise who bought and played Reacher in two movie adaptations of the books – “Jack Reacher” (2012) and “Never Go Back” (2016), starting right at the title which is “Reacher Review – The House-sized Action Hero Tom Cruise Will Never Be”.

They praised Alan Ritchson as “an actor the size of a house” with “all of Reacher’s stillness and confidence”.

Alan Ritchson is the kind of tall and handsome man many would love to call theirs and it seems both genders want(ed) him as it was rumored that he was gay. He got married to Catherine Ritchson, a blonde beauty with a powerful smile, in 2006 before his 24th birthday. The couple is blessed with three kids and like his father, they are all boys.
